We like it simple

Down-to-earth and authentic. That is who we are. That is how we want to stay.

Small, special and cosy. That is the Piccolo Hotel Gurschler. We, the Gurschler family and our small team, always work hard for the well-being of our guests. No matter whether you are looking for peace and quiet, you are a competitive athlete, a solo traveller or a training team: We are concerned with the personal well-being of each and every guest. Our goal: To make disconnecting and recharging your batteries as easy as possible for you.

We understand our roots and want to preserve the originality and authenticity of our mountain hotel. We are firmly convinced that a holiday does not always have to be accompanied by excess.

A look back

The oldest preserved building in Maso Corto is the Kurzhof, which was first mentioned in a document around 1300, and was managed by the Gurschler family for many generations. Leo Gurschler was born there in 1947. Even as a child he dreamed of building a cable car on the Grawand to open up the Hochjochferner as a year-round glacier ski area. Under his leadership the Gletscherbahn AG Schnalstal was founded in 1972. He partly carried out the difficult and elaborate construction work himself and even drove the excavator up the Hochjochferner glacier, as no one else had dared to do it. The pioneer and visionary thus made a significant contribution to the economic development of the valley. The construction of the glacier lifts and the Maso Corto sports centre, however, plunged the Kurzhof into a severe financial crisis and caused Leo Gurschler's death in 1983. His wife Giuliana had to raise the four children alone and built a new life with the Piccolo Hotel Gurschler. Meanwhile, daughter Martina continues to run the hotel and welcomes guests from near and far to the hotel as well as the Kurzhof.
